Privacy policy

What data does Heat Index & Wet Bulb Monitor collect?

Nothing that identifies you. The app has no account, no advertising SDK, no analytics and no third-party tracking. Your location is used on the device to request weather data and is not stored or transmitted anywhere else. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

The app

No account. There is nothing to sign up for and no identifier is created for you.

Location. If you grant location access, iOS gives the app your coordinates. Those coordinates are used for two things: requesting weather data for that place, and computing the sun's position so the WBGT radiation terms can be estimated. They are not stored as a history, not attached to any identifier, and not sent anywhere other than as part of the weather request. If you would rather not grant it, the app works fully with a city you search for instead.

No advertising, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. The app contains no advertising framework, no analytics library and no tracking of any kind. Apple's App Store gives every developer aggregate download and crash figures; that is outside the app and is not linked to individuals.

Local storage. Your unit preference, chosen city, language choice and the most recent weather snapshot are stored on the device — the snapshot in a shared container so that the Home Screen widgets can draw a reading without making a network request of their own. All of it stays on the device and is removed when the app is deleted.

This website

No cookies. No analytics. No third-party embeds, and the one font is served from this domain rather than a font network. Everything the calculators do happens in your browser: the numbers you type are never sent anywhere, because there is nowhere for them to be sent.

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which processes standard server request logs as any web host does.

Weather data

Weather data is provided by Apple Weather. Apple's attribution and legal information are required wherever that data appears: Apple Weather data sources and attribution.

In Japan the app additionally uses officially published national WBGT values, observed and forecast, where a station covers the selected location. Where no station covers it, the app estimates the value and labels it as an estimate.

Third parties

Three parties receive data in the course of the app or the site working, and no others.

Apple. Weather requests go to Apple's WeatherKit service and carry the coordinates or the city being requested. Apple's handling of that request is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, and Apple states that WeatherKit location data is not used to identify or profile you.
Japan's published heat-index service. In Japan the app requests the officially published WBGT figure for a station near the selected location. The request carries the station or area, not an identifier.
Cloudflare, which hosts this website and processes standard server request logs.

Each of them provides the same or equal protection of user data as this policy states and as the App Store Review Guidelines require. No user data is shared with anyone else — there is no analytics provider, no advertising network, no third-party SDK and no data broker, because the app contains none of those.

There is nothing held on a server to retain or delete: the app has no account, no server-side profile and no identifier for you.

Retention. The unit preference, chosen city, language choice and most recent weather snapshot live on your device only, for as long as the app is installed.
Deletion. Deleting the app removes all of it. Nothing survives the deletion, because nothing was stored anywhere else.
Withdrawing consent. Location access can be withdrawn at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Heat Index. The app keeps working with a city you search for instead; no feature is withheld for refusing the permission.
Requests. If you want written confirmation of any of the above, or believe some data about you exists, email pixelateddev@gmail.com and it will be answered.

Account deletion does not apply. Guideline 5.1.1(v) requires in-app account deletion for apps that offer account creation; this app offers none, so there is no account to delete.

Children

The app is not directed at children, collects nothing, and has no social, messaging or user-generated content features.

Common questions

Does the app track my location history?

No. The current location is used to request weather for that place and to compute the sun's position. It is not logged, not stored as a history, and not sent anywhere except as part of the weather request itself. You can also skip location permission entirely and search for a city instead.

Are there analytics or crash reporting?

No third-party analytics and no advertising SDKs. Apple's own App Store metrics and, if you have opted into sharing them with developers in iOS Settings, Apple's crash reports are the only telemetry that exists, and both are aggregated by Apple rather than collected by the app.

Does this website use cookies?

No. There are no cookies, no analytics scripts, no embedded third-party content and no fonts loaded from another domain. The calculators run entirely in your browser and the values you type are never transmitted.

Where does the weather data come from?

Apple Weather, via WeatherKit, for most of the world. In Japan the app additionally uses the officially published national WBGT values where a station covers the location, rather than estimating one itself.

Is any data sold or shared?

No. There is nothing to sell: no identifiers, no profiles and no contact details beyond an email you choose to send.
